Note from Dan, 7/15/07

About whether we came from England or Ireland ... It is still possible that
we came from England in some way, but it is not possible that we descended
from William (the immigrant) who was born in England and came to America in
1646. Joan Jackson asked me to submit my DNA for comparison with others who
have proven their descent from William (the immigrant). There's no way that
I am a descendant of William. (Of course, it's possible that someone along
the line was illegitimate or adopted, but that would probably affect us
all).

We are trying to find someone descended from Matthew Thornton, the
Declaration of Independence signer, to submit his DNA. That way we could
confirm that persistent legend of our relation to Matthew.

You can see the DNA results online at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Thornton/

At that website, the "Results" page narrates the DNA results so far. William
(the immigrant) Thornton is head of "The Virginia_A Group". We are still not
matched with any group.

At that website, on the "Y Results" page, my DNA is identified as Kit Number
12220.
