The banking house of Metcalf & Johnson
was established Jan 1, 1884, in a brick
building, built especially for
the purpose. Their individual responsi-
bility will foot up in the neighborhood
of $80,000. Ralph Metcalf, the cashier,
has held this responsible position ever
since the bank started.
--this establishment was located in Greenfield. The
founders are Richard Jones Metcalf, father of Ralph
Metcalf , and Jasper Johnson.
--it appears that these two banks became one, and
later dissolved or became the '1st National' bank?
